11:27pm CDT Rain has stopped for now...but our basement is flooding. It's a leak from the main water line in the foundation. That's serious trouble folks. Something must be backing up into the line. Huge problem. We hope the home warranty covers it...it should. Honestly, this last five days is killing me...can't catch a break. Beat down...
Did we get lucky? We're not out of the woods yet but the first huge thunderstorm passed us quickly which was nice. There are several more behind it to the west, not sure it will come our way or not.
So far the basement has not flooded, as it did over the weekend. We fixed the sump pump but I am paranoid checking it every half hour or so. I've also built a towel damn around the door to keep it from getting to the finished portion of the basement.
Plan to go to bed soon. Hopefully I don't need to wake up and go into the basement. Pray for no sirens!
The storm is now hitting us. The rain is coming down very heavy and the thunder and lighting are enormous. We've lost satellite signal from DirecTV and that always freaks out the kids. Electricity still good and the heavy part of the storm won't hit us for another 20 minutes or so.
Several lighting strikes very close to home. You can tell they're closer by the sound. A very scary sound even at 41 years old...our little guys remain asleep. But for how long?
